Why Switch?
Introduction
Do I really hate Windows that much? No, I do not really, I still use Windows once every in a while because of many reasons, but if I had only for Linux to use would I be able to? Well yes.
Windows is not a horrible operating system, it does what it is ment to do and that is do daily tasks, but with few more interuptions then I would like to have.
Firstly, whenever I first boot up a computer it spams with Teams, for which I do not even use, then whenever I need to write a document in Microsoft Word I have to login, and for reference, I was logging in with an account I had and it refused to go in because it thought I had VPN on. No Microsoft, I do not have a VPN on, why would I? It took me around 10 to 15 minutes just to login into Word, because it refused to work without an account.
Another thing, I do not like the optimizations and customaztion options for Winddows, it uses too much RAM and CPU, as well as customizing Windows is just some colours by default, and yes I know I can install third party software to go insane but I am too lazy. Yes I do admit there is also quite a lot of downloading on Linux for customizing but its done quicker with the terminal rather then a GUI. At least that is my opinion
Is Linux any better? If you make it be better. Up to you, you can use KDE for Windows look, GNOME for MacOS look or go nuts and use Hyprland or i3 for window tiling managment which I really really like to use :3 soooo I might be biased there :p
Which Distro?
Well, Fedora. Why? I have a life that is why. It is a great distribution that comes with everything you need unlike more complex ones such as Arch or Gentoo.
And yes everything does work quickly for Fedora. Games from Steam and Epic Games do not have a problem loading and playing with good performance, well to be honest I do not play a lot of games, just HOI4 and Cities Skylines and some Minecraft, heheh I like those games. Other games I play are Emulators and boy those games work amazingly well because all of them are from old consoles from early and late 2000s. PS2 Emulators and Wii work amazingly on Linux
Besides games and everything coming out of a box, anything else about Fedora? Well, the constant updates are great. No major bugs to ruin my work, most applications I used on Windows work great on here and overall so far it is a great choice for me.
Would I choose any other distro? Well if I had to I would honestly go with Debian, which currently powers my server and as Fedora it is a great choice.
Expirience so far
As previously mentioned, it is overall great, nothing major to complain about.
Games work fine, every task I need to complete can be easily done, overall me like Linux.
What would you recommend for me?
Idk, it varies just choose what you feel is comfortable for you.
